Reverb - whaddya got?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a verb unit to replace an old Zoom 9200 that's died. If you can get past the Zoom name – it was a really cool unit for vocal / character + longer / dark / dense verbs and complimented my sony v77 really well.

Looking for something in a similar vein to replace it with – anyone have something interesting they're considering moving on?

I *think* I want something like a Dynacord DRP 20 or the Stargate that Chris Whitten just sold but as I haven't heard either of these units I dunno. I don't think I want a Lexicon PCMXX.

At $1300 I have a Eventide H3000 DSX.

At $800 I have a Roland R880 with 2 remotes (!) vers 2

At $150 I have a Zoom 9120 (wouldn't be offering it for sale if I didn't have two !)

Get the Roland 880. I would if I was buying stuff.

Or get one of the older spring reverbs, akg bx10/15/20, Master Room etc.

Alesis Midiverb 4, Lexicon MPX1, Digitech Studio Quad v2, Alesis Q2 and I think I have a quadreverb somewhere as well.
IF anything floats your boat let me know and we can work something out.

2c is only worth 1c atm, but......

TC Helicon have some nice reverbs at the top end - my desk has the TCHelicon FX suite that is very good. I also have a TC Voiceworx that has a nice reverb but the interface is not the friendliest.

TC low end stuff is ok and quite cheap but is limited to 48KHz.... I have an M300 that I'd part with ($175) if you were interested.

Do you have a specific purpose? I like the Roland 201/301/501 but they seem to be bringing in the 1K range for anything good.

I don't know the Eventide, but $1300 seems a good price.
Stargate is great, mostly because of it's simplicity plus a weird mix of delay and reverb.

FWIW, I just bought a Valhalla soft reverb for $50 that is very excellent, and Toraverb by D16.
They float my boat for trashy and fx-ie.

I've got low-endy verbs and fx stuff covered (Wedge / SPX90 / RSP-550).

V77 usually gets used for it's plate patches (gold foil / iron plate / magic plate) and interesting chains (it's got the Sony D7 / F7 delay / modulation fx blocks and then some). Some of the other verbs are nice but I don't really like the longer / bigger spaces - they sound a bit 'sheeny' for my taste.

Wedge is actually a pretty cool little verb and has been getting used a lot while I've been waiting to see if the Zoom could be revived. Some nice room / plate / chamber sounds. Does some interesting longer spaces but I haven't found them so useful.

SPX90 / RSP-550 mostly doing mod stuff (RSP has a pretty cool Dim D patch if you ever see one going cheap).

Zoom was good for chambers, big spaces, dark spaces, lead vocal *reverb* type stuff. Looking for something to fill a similar role.

Nymo, R880 sounds most interesting but not sure it fits this bill? Do you have any of the cards for it? Comes with the territory but a little cautious about fixability.

Eventide reverbs are awesome. I've had a few over the years, and currently have the H7600. People get caught up in the harmonizer aspect and forget there are truly awesome reverbs in there.

At $1300 that H3000 should be highly tempting to a lot of people.
