Hi everyone - I've got a few projects coming to the mix stage and I'm thinking of doing some stuff in a nice mix room. When I say nice; maybe a Neve or SSL, good monitoring that translates well, a few channels of classy outboard compression and EQ.
I am aware of most of the good tracking facilities around town but have never looked into rooms setup solely for mixing ie no costs for a live room. Are there any around Sydney? What are you all doing when you need to book space for mixes?
Thanks for any advice!

Hey Adam I'm actually wondering the reverse, I have a rock project coming up and am looking for a great tracking room at a reasonable price, probably 2 days. Any suggestions? Been doing so much HipHop and working at home lately I've lost a few contacts, now I've got this rock project and am looking to get most stuff tracked in 2 days and a few o'dubs at my place. All the drums must be completed elsewhere.
Thanks
Heath

Level 7 has best rates right now
Well as for tracking, these are my favourites I have been using over the past few months.
Tiger Sound
Level 7 - Daniel is really keen to get bookings and will cut a deal for a stretch of time
301 Alexandria
Trackdown (Fox) - not very cheap ATM, pricing themselves out of rock n roll
The Grove
Kris, Level 7 is highest on the list for a mix room. Just wondering about facilities setup soley for mixing. I remember a couple around a few years ago, they were setup mainly for TV and Radio work, but were equipped with an SSL and heaps of classy outboard.... But at those rates that Level 7 is offering it is hard to think anywhere else would be cheaper...
Anyone know of dedicated mix rooms?

BJB has a Neve equipped mix room.
You won't find many Broadcast/Radio rooms left with SSL or Neve analogue boards. Most have shifted to some sort of Pro Tools set up or Fairlight and Euphonix at the higher end.
There was a studio in Crows Nest...name escapes me... but they had a Soundcraft desk and were available for $660/day a while back.

Did some stuff at Artec years ago, forgot about that place. Thought they had an Amek...?
Don't think they are 660 a day anymore though.
Also, forgot about the BJB Neve...thanks for the heads up.
As a side note, a band I'm working with in a few months is looking for permanent rehearsal space for a week or so for pre-production. Do not need a PA, just a decent room they can have locked out for 7 days or so for not much cash (suprise suprise) to do basic digital demos (with their own Tools rig) and have a bash.... thinking Sound Level...?
