Cubase 4 - Anyone using it?

Thinking about jumping ship on Logic Platinum 5 (old PC version before they moved to Mac). It's that or buy a Mac and get Logic Pro.

I love Logic but it might be more "logical" economically to go to Cubase (good grief that was a bad pun). Or I can hang out with my old PC version I guess...

Any thoughts on Cubase 4 from anyone using it.

Are you exchanging files with other users?

I have friends who have run into difficulties being the very first to update to a new piece of S/W and then discovering that no one else can open their files.

Not sure if Cubase will have this issue, i.e. you may be able to save files as an earlier version, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I would wait a little before jumping into a new version of Cubase..
There always seems to be a lot of bugs with a new version, so give it a few months to settle down. Like 6 or so he he
I think too many software manafactures push out the new releases so they can do nice shiney adverts and meet trade shows deadlines. Beta testing well that is what paying customers do :D Steinberg always seems to be one of the worst in pushing a new version which does not work untile release fix 3-4

but in all seriousness...is it that much different to cubase 3 SX? i didnt even know there was a 4...hehe

I dont think there are many performance improvements with 4, but it comes with some cool new VST instruments, and some much needed new plugins.

I think the main thing was making it Universal Binary compatible.

Steinberg promised us SX3 users there would be a final update to fix some bugs, but they decided to make us pay for the upgrade to 4. This seems to be a usual thing from them, and I'll probably jump to PT for my next DAW at home.

Or U could try Digital Performer 5.11 it is an excellent DAW and if U R used to PT it's quite easy to learn
