Hey Peter, haven't heard from you. How is it?
How does it compare with your other mics?
Anyone else have one?

Sorry Blair,

I missed your post.

It's a fantastic mic. Besides the tank like construction, it's sound, whilst similar to others in many respects, does something the others don't. It's hard to explain, kind of like a cross between a U47 and a C12. It has the bottom end and mids of a U47 and the top end of a C12. Very smooth but still very fast.

I tested 3 mics on a new artist I'm working with last week, the Elux251, Wagner U47 and the the Bock 507. It was a slow blues ballad. Going through an Mercury M72 pre & a Purple MC77 with as close a volume match as possible. All 3 were outstanding and could be used in final mix. An impossible choice. 3 different sets of ears chose the 3 different mics as their preference. Go figure.

It most certainly sits in the class of many old favourites. If you can get your hands on one, try it. you won't be disappointed. No, i'm not affiliated with Bock. :)

Cheers
