Tfunk/Filtek/Neumann/Mics/Summing

I realised last week that 99% of the recording I've done this year has been location stuff, so I'm trying to thin the herd of big heavy awkward things, and replace them with a few smaller, multi channel preamp units.
I need to raise some funds to do that, so a few things are up on the block. Let me know if you want more info or pics.

PLEASE NOTE- some modules have been recapped/repaired some are as stock. I've included that info in the listing for each item. I've either got copies of the manuals or have figured out the pinouts for ALL of the units, and everything has been tested and is working, but bear in mind they are all vintage units now. Get in touch and I'll give you as much info as I can.
I'm happy to wire up pigtails on any of the units for the cost of parts, or provide information for racking as needed.

Telefunken Preamps

V372 $350
The solid state version of the famous V72. Gain of 40dB, plus a few mods floating around on the web that will increase it a little bit.
Sounds great, clean, quiet and fat. Input and output transformers, plus a separate unbalanced input/output. Recapped all electros.

V672/2 $350
An updated version of the V372, this has multiple transformer isolated outputs, plus an unbalanced output. It also has a great manual, explaining (in German!) how it can be wired up for different uses.
I've currently got it wired up to put out between about 25-60dB of gain. By substituting different input pads and external potentiometers you can fine tune this for the amount of gain you need. Recapped before I got it, so I haven't done any work on it.

Filtek mk5b $400
The most well known of the Filteks, it's got everything and in a small package. I've got a bunch of these and I love them. This one is in great condition. Working great, no recap.


Filtek Mk7 $275
The last of the Filtek EQ series, and even smaller again. This unit has the same EQ settings as the Mk2-5 units, but no hi and lo-pass filters. It's also a bit cleaner and tighter sounding. Working great, no recap.



Neumann W491a $300
3 band EQ, Haufe input transformer, electrically balanaced output.
All electro caps replaced (only a few in here anyway). The opamps in the amplifier section have also been replaced by me.





Mics

CAD M9 $275
Cardoid Tube LDC. Comes with hardcase, shockmount, power supply and cable. The first reasonably quality condensers I owned, and they still sound ok on a lot of sources. Good tom mics, and not too bad on a guitar amp, but a touch bright like most Chinese capsule mics.
I'm keeping a pair of these, this is the 3rd one I had that never saw as much use.

I've had the Sump for about 18 months, and I've been really happy with it. I migrated from ITB to using it, and it's a pretty clean summing amp- it doesn't colour the sound much at all, but there is a slight difference to ITB. The main advantage for me is being able to utilise my outboard and easily strap comps across the 2bus etc. For this it's been fantastic and I certainly wouldn't want to go back to ITB.
It's a great option to get into summing, as everything is organised and sorted for you. 16 inputs (the first 4 channels being assignable either mono or stereo), separate mix and monitor ouputs (with a monitor volume), an inbuilt compressor supposedly modeled on a G series SSL Bus comp, peak limiter, send/returns for strapping outboard across the 2bus, and a good sounding A/D card. 
This means you can run your signals into the box, and just take a single cable via SPDIF or AES back into your converters with the mix on it. 
It's also got a few other features like an external in for checking mixes against, ability to chain with other units to deal with more than 16 channels etc. It's been discontinued, so perhaps the best source of info is here- http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb06/articles/audientsumo.htm
It's in perfect condition, it's been installed in the rack when I got it and hasn't moved since. Switchable 110/240v

They are discontinued, but places that still have them in stock seem to be selling them (with A/D option) for around $2k.

I'd be hoping for something around $1200 based on the couple I've seen sell on eBay in the US recently.

i was going to say "don't sell the blondies"! they're great. if you need a set in sydney you can always borrow mine. i have metal fine pair and a wood finish single.

It's ok, I'm still keeping a pair of them! I had a wooden pair and metal pair as well, but I don't find I was using all 4 that often.
Lately I've been using them on location things as room mics a lot, and really enjoying that. When it's a little room you can even just hang them from the lights which is pretty cool.

I was only thinking this morning about HPF's.

If you can , what sort of dB per octave are the HPFs on the Filtek stuff? and roughly what sort of all up cost including racking?

Hey mate-

I don't know off the top of my head. I'll run them through a freq analyser this afternoon and let you know.

I'll PM you rack costs, but somewhere around $100 in parts.

It's an odd number, but it appears to be 14dB/oct on both the HPF and LPF for the Mk5. Mk3 literature states 24dB/oct.
