Yeah the Revox M3500's were a re-branded Beyer 201's in the brushed silver finish with a few differences.

Beyer is 200 ohm, Revox is 600 ohm.

Beyer has a humbucking coil, Revox doesn't.

Beyer has a filter circuit, Revox doesn't.

Beyer has an XLR connector, Revox has the small Tuchel connector.

That being said I love my Revox M3500 and prefer it to the M201.

yeah, I like the m3500 too. great for drums esp. snare top and bottom but the beyer is really good on trpt though I do prefer the md421. Didn't know about the humbucking coil or the filter difference but did know that the output impedance was higher. Not sure why they did that maybe price or maybe to match a specific revox unit that the mics were matched with?

Yeah the 600 ohm is a bit of strange one, most of the Revox tape recorders had a mic input of 2.2k, nearly twice as high as a Neve. The Revox machines were a bit of strange phenomenon. Basically a domestic machine that found it's way into the professional market with specs that were neither domestic or professional.

Most dynamics are designed to work into a load anywhere from 2 - 4 times their output impedance so that would put the Revox in that ballpark.

Never had a problem with loading when using a Revox M3500 into a Neve Pre.

+1 for a M3500 on snare.
