Interesting, but I would have thought that it would be (almost) impossible to maintain even tension across a rectangular diaphram. Can you imagine the problems of tensioning a square drum head..............

It's not the first rectangular diaphragm, I think Pearl do it and so do a european company whose name escapes me right now. There's also an elliptical diaphragm in a few mics so they must've sorted out a reasonable tensioning system.

nice, taking a lead from one of the most popular subwoofer designs....Kicker's L7 series (could be the first? not sure)... their speakers have a larger surface area...and pound balls harder than most models...
