FS: D&R Avalon Channel Strips/Meter/Fader/Connector Sets

I have 91 vintage D&R Avalon 32 Channel inline console, its a monster, think it is well over 300kg, planning on moving house in the near future and I cant bare to think about moving this again. I am offering to sell it off in pieces as I dont think there would be too many takers for this monster.

The channel strips are "in=Line" so do not require an external group module for output, so they would be ideal as mic/line pre's with Eq, a channel set includes a 25 segment Led VU meter, XLR & 1/4" I/O connectors panel, 10K log fader and of course the channel module and all cables to connect them together. I have a manual so can supply a copy if someone wants to take a reasonable quantity of modules. If anyone ones a quantity of modules I have the buss ribbon cables, so they could easily be cut to bridge a number of modules so that the group routing is functional

Was think $100 a set. The console was working 3 years ago when I recorded with it last, I stripped it, shipped it and here it is. The modules will need recapping, not a difficult exercise if you know how to solder, the board is easy to get to by undoing two screws only. I had planned to do this but just don't have the time to do 32 channels.

Are the pre's transformer based?

Would they need racking up?

Hi Mark, no its IC based, all IC's on sockets, its a very clean sounding console. The modules are too long to go horizontally in a 19" rack, it would be better in a sidecar type arrangement. I have the console frame which is all steel, heavy as hell, so it they can all be assembled back into the original frame, but not much use unless you want the complete console. So yes some sort of fame will be required to mount them and a power supply. I have the orginal power supplies (2) they are also huge and would be overkill for a small quantity of modules, but could be used if weight and size isn't a major issue.

Hi,

This has me quite interested, I've been wanting to build a front end for my interface for a while. Do you have any of the other modules? I'm looking over the service manual but have yet to come across the supply voltages required. Do you know what they are? Also If it was possible to get some rough dimensions of the different modules that would be great. I know its a alot to ask, but I would be interested in 8 channels plus aux returns and possibly a master if you have them. I'll PM you details.

Hi Miles, sizing as follows;

Besides the 32 x Input modules I have a Control Room Module, a Studio Module, Oscillator/Solo/Status Module, Communications Module, Aux Masters Module and Bantam Patchbay. So currently it is a complete set for the full 32 channel console until modules get sold

All channel modules, inc master, aux comms, oscillator modules are 664mm long x 40mm wide.
Meters are 200mm x 40mm
I/O connector's are 300mmm x 40mm
Faders are 172mm x 40mm

The power supply requirements is +/- 22V, +/- 18V and 48V, I have 2 power supply units, cant remember if they are just in parallel, will have to check later.
