chaps, I have here a PKE AM12 console to move on.
For those that don't know PKE are an Australian company that has been making consoles for radio broadcasters for yonks. Probably every radio station in Australia had or has a few PKE consoles.
So this one is a 12 channel console that was designed for use primarily in outside broadcasts, this particular one was last used by 5DN for footy match broadcasts and the original scribble strip had things like "crowd FX" and "wheel clack FX".
It is all XLR in and out and fully transformer balanced. It is IC based but is quite minimal signal path. What I've done is extensively modify the console:
each channel has:
mic in, line in, gain, phantom power, three band fixed EQ ( bass, middle and treble ), EQ in/out switch, a foldback send with a pre/post switch, pfl, large fader and a send to one, two or both busses.
This was originally designed for mono ... AM radio footy broadcasts... but by treating the two groups as left and right you can get a stereo mix out of it. You won't be able to pan though, so hard left, hard right or mono.
Master faders, with talkback to the foldback buss. It even has a natty little AKG D58 talkback mic.
PFL can go to a internal speaker and also appears on a balanced output. The is also master mono fader that the two "groups" can be directed to ... for those who appreciate a good mono mix.
There is NO real monitoring section .. This is something that I could look at trying to add if someone was interested.
Each of the 12 channels has a direct out, post fader.
Thus you could treat it as 12 preamps with foldback for tracking
or as a 12 channel summing mixer.
It has huge VU meters!
It measures 700mm wide and 600mm deep. It is heavy and comes with a flight case.
It owes me quite a lot because I got carried away with mods etc but make an offer around $1,200 plus freight and it's all yours.

Re: PKE console for sale
Just to add to Rob's info, PKE gear has a lot of headroom, Most consoles and Modules of this era were designed to be able to run at +8dB , not Plus 4dB and with at least 16dB above that,The old broadcast standard.
They use +/- 22V supplies, not the +/- 15V of today's equipment and the transformers were all custom made , High quality . there won't be a person in Australia over 20 who hasn't heard a radio broadcast that came through a PKE desk or D/A. They were everywhere. High quality build, supremely servicible and with the Pro-Harmonic golden touch , even better.
