I can vouch for these. They sound great, are very flexible and, as always Rob's work is excellent. The list price is a bargain...

That price is too low Phil. I have a pair I'd like to sell but I'd rather keep them if that is the going price.
People - these are a lot of work to rack (cutting boards etc...) and they are a great set of pre's/eq - you won't get a better price than this. Get them while you can!!

The pre-amp market must be saturated.
I've seen a few amazing pre-amp, channel strip options come and go with very little interest of late.
It's not a slight on the seller, or the pre-amp I think. For example, I know I've got too many myself. So why buy more?

yeah I know guys, but it's not so much a case of market rules, it's a case of reality rules!
The asking price is enough to help me, and gives someone else an opportunity.
Besides, they are up on fleabay as well, and I always like to give a better price for fellow trockers.

I just picked up 10 channels of vintage API 312 preamps

My MCI 500 console... honestly, I cannot tell the difference
the APIs are fantastic of course! beautiful warm, full range, forward mids, little bit of hair on top, all that fun stuff. the MCIs are sooo underrated, they sound identical

Plus, the EQs are incredible! by far the best midrange EQ i've ever used :x

Phil, that's just too darn cheap! I understand the second hand market sucks, but dropping the price doesn't really help either. When a buyer comes along who actually wants these, they will pay what they're worth. If you drop the price low enough, then of course, everyone becomes a buyer, and such a special item is suddenly not so special.. Anyway, that's just what I think, maybe I'm a little precious about the MCI thing because I know just how good they are

thank you Lee, a couple of points well made, I will keep the MCI's, other gear will be sacrificed.

I thought I could live without it, I have Joe Malone's TMP8 pre's which from what I hear have those API characteristics you mentioned, but you sold me on the midrange eq, I have not used this yet, as I am just building a kit of mixdown gear for my next career phase. And Myles did such a great job of explaining the history and value of these, that counts for something for me. I feel better I will keep these, and get thru this spell somehow anyway. (update, as I write this, I pass on a couple of comps to a fellow trocker!)

And I hope I was not upsetting the market by little attempt at a fire sale, I could have stressed that a bit more.

good luck with your studio, I really like the set up you have

thanks again, Phil
