Just rolled back iTunes.

Postby Thirteen » Mon Feb 04, 2013 12:49 pm

Awesome! I just managed to roll my Mac back from the Apple Maps of music, iTunes 11 to good old iTunes 10.7. It's so good to have all that functionality back and to be able to search correctly and to have a clean user interface again. If anyone else wants to do so message me and I will send you a link to the directions. I used an app called Pacifist which works beautifully to remove one version of an app and replace it with another perfectly.

great idea,

I am very reluctant to update software ever really.
Will leave anything until it is absolutely necessary or there is a major (tested) advantage.

Actually going to roll back to 10.6.8 after being with 10.7.5 for a while now.
I just remember being less angry during that time.

PM sent

I dont really use iTunes, but my wife does for her singing teaching business.

She has been complaining incessantly about it ever since upgrading.

Send me the link, for the sake of domestic peace :p

Yeah 11 is just ugly and annoying... count me in for the roll back.

My work's IT services just rolled out an image based on 10.7.5. There are a number of Apple programs where "Save" and "Save As" have been replaced with "Save a Version". Unless you do a duplicate on the Finder, it's just not possible to save a file under a different name.

I'm sure there will be other annoyances.

Well, you can go File > Duplicate from within apps so you don't need to do it from Finder. The Shift+Command+S shortcut for this is also the same as the prior Save As command.

You can also click the file name in the title area of a window to achieve the same thing.

Files are so 1980s anyway. I can never keep track of all the little buggers. :|

The reason for the change to "duplicate" rather than "save as" was rumoured to be because Microsoft claimed ownership if the term "save as". It is probably true because Office for Mac still has "save as" while iWork has changed from "save as" to "duplicate".
