insulation for acoustic treatment.

Hey guys
Just wondering what insulation products to look out for building bass traps, broadband absorbers and ceiling clouds. The only product I have used is bradford soundscreen (rockwool 40kg/m3). Just wondered anyone has found anything more economical and still effective.

I am particularly curious to know if there is any experience here with building superchunk style traps using just everyday pink batts.

And no, I don't think it gets any cheaper than Soundscreen, which is very cheap!

If you're in Sydney or Melbourne Polymax Absorb might work out cheaper than Tontine Acoustisorb (or at least it was when I priced it a little while ago). Both are more expensive than soundscreen, but you don't have to worry about breathing in fibers and they're maybe a bit easier to deal for bulding absorbers / clouds as they can be packed and repacked without much hassle.

What about the superchunk questions. I have read that the less dense fluffy stuff is better for low frequency absorbtion in superchunk traps. Has anyone build these? Any particular product?
