For trade?

Postby Kurt » Fri Mar 22, 2013 11:26 am

I collected a few bits and pieces, some might be good, some is probably useless shit, before I was able to admit that I am not capable of (or driven enough to learn how) to fix/modify them.

I have 4 options. In descending order of preference:
Give someone much more capable than me the whole lot in exchange for something I can actually use
Give someone much more capable than me the whole lot in exchange for them making the 1598B useful for me
Give the whole lot to someone
    Bin the whole lot

Pair of Akai M7s
The "simple" mods to cenvert them to dual pre's is way beyond me.

Altec Lansing 1598B (and a pair of high gain modules)
The plan was to add phantom power and something like the JLM go between. Once again, beyond me.

PKE ECMS-03 (not even sure what it's meant to do but it looked cool and was cheap)
Has big VUs in it....

There's also an old portable valve reel-reel buried in a cupboard somewhere along with a Shure automix mic preamp (apparently the pre's are not bad if you can modify it to tap a line out of each one and defeat the logic circuit. I can't)

Hi Kurt

I'd be interested in taking the lot of your hands in exchange for some gear... mics maybe?

If you can send me some info on the M7's.... are they just the amps or the whole recorders?

Let me know what sort of gear you're looking for.

Also location.

Thanks

Greg

The M7s are just the amps, ol'mate fired them up to show me they worked (speaker hiss) then cut them out of the deck. I'll dig everything up, dust it off and take some photos over the weekend.

Not sure what gear I'm looking for but yeah, mic's are small and useful...

Edit: I'm in Canberra but can box everything up and send it anywhere, none of is is particularly large or heavy.

Do you mean Altec 1589B?

If so I may be interested in 'option 2'. Just finishing up racking a quad of 1588C amps, and it's a reasonably straight forward job to get the mini-mixers working.

Cool-

Well if you don't get any offers for trade that work let me know and I'd be keen to fix it up for you in exchange for the other stuff.
