Ok,

So tonight, filmmaker Rob Nugent has dropped in and in the boot of his car he had this.

Before he takes it apart to make a bizaare camer obscura to capture fictional images of the "Night Parrot" I wondered if anyone knew anything about it?

Hi,

No I don't think this was on eBay. Rob had just been in Albury filming something for a doco about the Canberra Centenary and he mentioned to someone he was lookin for any interesting old looking machine with a VU meter. The person he was interviewing went out to their garage and gave him this.

It powers up. Haven't tried to run audio through I yet and he leaves in a couple of hours.

Judging by the meter and knobs and general styling,it is late 40's/early 50's.similar to AWA consolettes and modulation meters of the period or a G51 series limiter.If it's battery powered it probably uses 1volt filament valves,but it looks like it is mains powered so 6au6 pentodes in triode mode with grounded plates and screens for the mic pre amps and nice meaty input transformers.If you can get some more pics. I've never even seen pictures of one of them before.
