Anyone hear speak German?

Postby chris p » Mon Apr 08, 2013 6:42 pm

I'm after the German equivalent of "saturation" as in what happens to a tube amp turned all the way up.

Best I can do with high school German is "trankung", but that's not so much a technical term.

Also, any hints for what Germans call a High-Z input - I'm tempted to just go with Hoch-Z, but is "HoZ" used as an abbreviation? Save the innuendo jokes.

Thanks for any help.

The german words spat out of a few translation programs for "saturation" was:

'Sättigung'

Verstärkungssättigung.
Try fitting that into a lyric.

For you Chinagraf

I dream of Freud while you dream of Jung
we all dream verstärkersättisgung

Aaah, Kraftwerk - see their O2 concert on YouTube - a good reminder that we all grow old (or is that olt).

Thanks Linear Chris - I did think of overdrive as an alternative and any term starting with Über has to be good, right?

Here's a page that explains it all

Ha! Nice one Chris, I was going to post "We are ze robots" because Steve mentioned "Autobahn"..
I think Verstärkungssättigung translates as 'amplifier saturation' - ya?
