Just a quick note on the George L cables, i have friends that have good and bad experiences with these. Sound was good but have had two friends that they have failed miserably on, not good during tender musical moment when large farting crunching sound comes from guitar player in the pit orchestra!!! Other time was wailing guitar solo and then nothing, then watching the poor guitarist search for the fault on his pedal board that had more pedals than a church organ. For me i don't trust anything not soldered. My 2c.

Technically, it's fine. But really, it's thoroughly impractical. SPDIF connections are on RCAs. You will need special tooling to crimp on BNC connectors and then use BNC-RCA adaptors to use that cable for SPDIF interconnects.

There are easier ways to go.

to second howard.... no point making up SPDIF cables using regular RCA's unless you get the proper crimped connectors, otherwise it won't be 75 ohm anymore, in which case you might as well just use regular instrument cable.

BNCs are great and i don't know why everything doesn't use them. but you can get 75 ohm crimped RCAs, made by Canare (I think they are the only ones available?) I would think that putting an RCA adaptor on a BNC cable would again compromise the impedance, unless the adaptor itself was kosher?

i had a bunch made up for me, all at exactly the right lengths, cost a small fortune but good cable/connectors always do. i've done my own crimping before but better to let an expert do it i reckon.

my 2c on the cable thing.... i'm a big fan of the Mogami stuff in the studio, always with neutrik connectors, but for live guitar stuff, what's wrong with good old Canare? i've been using it for 15 years, 100% reliable, easy to work with, cheap. no it's not the best sounding cable but if you can hear the difference in your guitar rig then by all means use something exotic.

BNCs are great and i don't know why everything doesn't use them.

Purely a cost thing. BNCs are much dearer than RCAs (actually they're called "phono" connectors).

I'd recommend you try Canare GS-6 cable. (I think that's probably the one Wez is talking about.

I'm just stoked with the link to Lenard.........I read through the history on the site which answered some llooonng standing questions. I was tempted to bid on a "vintage" Lenard guitar rig on ebay some months ago but real life dictates that dollars go elsewhere for now.

My personal bass/ guit lead choice is Canare GS-6 and Nuetrik ends. Although i do have one bass that the nuetrik just doesn't fit so switchcraft itis for that bass.

yes GS-6. the mogami is neglex 2549, 110 ohm digital is mogami 2552. 75 ohm (spdif) is Canare LV-61S.
