UAD-1 card

Postby andygriffiths » Wed May 22, 2013 11:08 pm

Just thinking of adding a UAD-1 card to my HD rig. Just seeing if anyone might have one they may want to get rid of? Also does anyone know if you can still by plugins for those cards? Any help/thoughts would be great.

Cheers Andy

I have one I would be willing to part with, based in Brisbane. Maybe we could work out some kind of deal or trade?

Hey Andy,

The UAD1 cards are still supported by UA, but the bulk of the newer plugins only work with the UAD2 range - check out their website to see whats what. I still have a couple of UAD1 cards, and still very useful, but you are limiting your access to future (and a fair chunk of newish) plugins. Think the UAD2-solo is still twice the power of a UAD1, so you should weigh that into the equation, along with the availability of PCI slots in future machines. On the upside, any plugins you purchase should be usable if you move to UAD2 down the track(apart from nigel i think).

Cheers

Yeah cool thanks everyone, thinking Im going to wait till I can build a hackintosh & then I'll get a UAD-2 card. I think this is the wisest think to do. Rick you can delete this thread thanks mate.
