Gang,
After an 8-track reel to reel. Something in the "prosumer" category I guess. Ta@#$%, revox etc.
Let me know what you've got gathering dust. I've got coin, and/or a couple of bits of kit I'd get involved.
Thaaaanks.

I've got a Fostex R8 if you want it. It has the MTC midi controller. With full manual and original box. I haven't fired it up for a while but it worked perfectly last time used.
The head was replaced just before I stopped using it so hardly any use.
If your interested, make me an offer.
Cheers

Anybody have any thoughts or experience on the revocation c278? Been offered one services and ready to go but have never used one or even seen one before...

Myles...I remember reading a review of this in Sound on Sound in the 90s.
If I can't dig it up, maybe it's online at SOS ?
Cheers

Hi Myles' I have a C278,very good machine, DC servo capstan ,Dolby HX pro , no noise reduction, smooth transport, adjustable drop in erase ,like the MCI quior function, compact and portable. Varispeed etc.I would recommend it over a 5050 8 track and well above anything in the Fostex or Ta@#$% camps. Oh and it sounds good too (IMO)

Any thoughts about spare parts especially heads or head relapping if I needed it?

Re: WTB: 1/2 or 1" 8-track
I have a good supply of common parts ,cosmetic and mechanical. heads like anything of that age are trickier..I have one set for my machine. Some may still be available from Revox in Germany or one of the international agents as NOS parts but it will be hard to find.watch eBay.Lapping- Geoff Knight at technical workshops may still do them or if you send up to Sydney ,Gunter Wagner is still the man for head lapping and capstan resurfacing. Pinch rollers are something else to watch. They will go soft and gooey. I have pinch rollers remade by Henchman products in Newcastle. Mick Reardon is the man there.
