Just a heads up re the wait. I'm coming up to the one year anniversary of 'just fired your CS-1 up and all what is left is the final testing, so the mic will be ready within 7 to 14 days' email.

A mic you've fully paid for and is in your hand is infinitly more useable than the one you've paid for and waiting for..... The mic was paid for in 2010.

Far out. I know they are reputable people behind it and all, but faaaaar out.
How on Earth do they justify that kind of slackness? I was interested in trying one.
Guess I'll give it a miss, unless maybe I can check it out at your retirement party...?

there's nothing reputable about waiting 4 years for a mic...at that point who cares how it sounds.
in other industries, this would be called a scam.

Wasn't Terry Manning somehow associated with the last, infamous mic and pre group buy?

I recall when this thread first started and seeing his name involved with these mics that I felt a twinge of doubt about the whole thing.......not saying that the delivered mics aren't very good but just maybe there's something lacking in the way the business is being run.
ChrisO.....I think. Oh, and F*#K Google, ask me!

Barney, given the money you have put down on the mics, and the time now passed, I would be flying in person to see them and refusing to leave until you have either the mics in hand or your money and return airfare refunded in full! Really, that is an outrageous waiting time!

I don't doubt the quality or knowledge that is involved in the products at all. That takes a lifetime of study to accumulate.

I have a feeling that it will be a great mic. Something special dare I say it.

As a recording tool that I can't use and am invested in, I just have to wait.....

Having worked with Terry, I'd say that he'd probably pull a great sound out of a box of socks!

Wow Barney, something is definitely not right. Sounds like Oliver has way too much on his plate. I thought my 18 month wait was long but Jeez.....

I hope this gets sorted soon.

This is bullshit!
I'm on the list for a CS1 (buggered if I am going to give them my $ until it is ready in 3 years)
Barney the wait you have had, is pathetic to say the least .
I was extremely lucky to get a CS-4 that had a blemish.

Maybe they are looking after the "important" artists/clients first, and continually bumping the rest along?
Something is extremely smelly, and its a very unethical way to do business to make people pay years before they even make something...then bullshit about delivery for years.
It was either ready for testing - or they bullshited you!

Apart from being probably one of the best microphone's that I have ever heard (without a doubt),
they make killer mikes - but have lack of decent communications, and business skills > irrespective of their "situation"

I wish I could get paid for a job 2 years in advance, and keep changing the start date.

Just for the record, I paid my deposit at the beginning (2010) as requested and of my own accord paid the balance as the dollar was good. So the balance was due as at Feb 2013 when I received the 'in testing' notice. So I was fully paid under my own doing, just didn't expect it to be quite so long. I think it would have been easier if I didn't get notification that it would ship only to wait another 12 months.

Chris i've spoken with guys who've used your CS4 and I get that it's good, as I expect the CS1 to be. I just wanted to let others know on trock what the wait is like while it's been busy over in Gaylord, KS.

Barney - your patience is inspiring!
I have total respect for all involved in making these great mic's - but they have certainly not made a business plan.
Buyer suffers as a result.
Business is art - connecting with people and delivering the goods as promised.
Lucas need a manager of some sort to sort out this embarrassing mess they have made for themselves.
Best of luck for 2014!
Hope the mic arrives this year....

This thread is an appalling time clock on somebody elses
Business practices so .. Hopefully it wont get me sued for

Well Barneys situation - 1 year to test a mic!!! (and many others outraged on the net) is way beyond customer respect. Its outrageous.
I love their mics - not their business model, nor their lack of communications. It stinks.

No-one who sells a service or a product is beyond criticism - even if they are supposed to be masters in their particular crafts.
If I took peoples money and took more than 3 years to deliver it - I would not be able to sleep at night.

I do remember the slagging match re Neumann - that was ugly, and you were almost the only one who walked away with respect.
Some BIG ego's got dented in the end - but that is another story.

I'm taking bookings for 2017/18 - 50% up front.

I am having a similar experience with a Sydney guitar builder... I have an impressive collection of inquiry emails dating back to 2012 (along with records of my payment in full) , along with a very small handful of "we're shipping it next week" replies.

I've refrained from naming and shaming thus far...

I expect that in Barney's case he'd prefer a mic. That he has paid for.

Barney,

That's it? It's "nice"? How nice? Hopefully really f***ing nice...

Mine is coming "any day now" and it would be good to compare and contrast the two models. Hopefully we can do that very soon!
