yes this guy missed it by a LONG way..
the idea might be ok.. but his logic is totally flawed
its reads as "i missed out when it was good so it must be bad "
to me ..
its never been any good are my thoughts .. i worked right through the good old days he talks about

I'm always wary of these kind of articles especially the feeling of sour grapes, but being out of the situation over here and getting myself ready to come home I'm wondering what I'm coming home to… business as usual?

Well it's always been a networking model so, I suppose it depends on your network and from the little I know, your previous clients valued the quality and experience you bring to their projects. I think you will be coming back to a scenario similar to what you left.
I have seen those who build a network or reputation from a single hit or successful band come and go because that network transitioned onto other things or had it's 15 minutes in the sunshine but if the network is broader and not too genre specific there is more potential for longevity.

WRT kids alright - yep, they just have many more options as to where they spend their entertainment time / $. Eg; GTA5 grossed not far off $1billion in the first 24 hrs - that's serious entertainment bucks.

He has some interesting stats, Aust gaming represents 21% of total world machines... I don't think so, it's closer to 2.5%, not that I'm a fan of pokies.

A complex evolved current situation that very few articles get right.

The positives of this business are what they always were, as are the negatives. Our place in that spectrum is decided by how we see the world, not by how someone else does.
