Which program for MacBook Pro?

Hey all,

I got my daughter a MacBook Pro for Xmas and I want to put some sort or recording program on it (she's not happy about it ) other than GarageBand

It's Processor is 2.5GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4 GB 1600MHz DDR3
Software OS X 10.8.3

What would you Mac guys recommend for this?

Reaper, unless she wants lots of virtual instruments and samples, otherwise Logic is cheap but tricky to learn. You could also look at Reason.

Presonus Studio One is excellent and the basic version is free.
