Urgent Technical help needed Barcus Berry Mic and Pre

Postby Vic » Mon Jan 06, 2014 6:06 pm

I am in Sydney making some work for the Festival and onsite today out in Bidwill I was meant to conduct some tests with a contact microphone in an underpass beneath a roadway using a 4000 : Piano & Harp Planar Wave System.

But for some reason, no signal from the pre/mic.

It has been working flawlessly up until now and as I am on site I have no other cables etc to test it but wondering if anyone knows a tech in Sydney that might be able to look at it.

We are staying in the city.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok that's just weird. I was doing a similar thing, micing an underpass with one of those contact mics for a show I am doing for Sydney festival, only a couple of weeks ago!

Sorry can't help you out with a tech, as I am in based in Brisbane, however I am heading to Sydney on Monday for the gig. So if you need another mic let know.

haha, what a wacky coincidence. And thanks so much for the offer to assist. I'll let you know how I go as I'd love to get it sorted this week if possible and I really love this pre/mic combo, so would love to get it working again.

Vic,just saw your post, can you get up to Greenwich this morning,I'll take a quick look at it for you in the workshop.Hopefully it's just a dry solder joint in the pre or something not too serious.
Come to 2UE reception, level 1, 170 Pacific Highway Greenwich, ask for me.
Give me a call after 8 on 0419-954-000.
Cheers

HI Alastair,

Thanks so much. That would be wonderful.

However, I can't come out today as I have to head back out to Bidwill again in about 20 minutes, but I could come out tomorrow morning if that suits you?

Thanks again.

Yeah that's fine.I'll be in from 10:30 til 4:30 .Got to head out to ANZ stadium for Cricket OB.
Give me a call later this morning. If you can give me a model number for the pre,I'll see if I can find a schematic.
