Studio build.... It's getting there.

Postby Lee » Sat Apr 05, 2014 10:18 pm

I just thought I'd share that toady was a great day.
Because of this forum we got a TAC Matchless for our studio a while back and have been working on it ever since. Our awesome tech rebuilt the power suply, recapped it and built all the EDAC To db25 cabling to interface between the symphony I/O (among other things).

Well today we recorded drums and i got to hear the desk for the first time and I'm really happy. There were no major issues so today was a success.
We are not one hundred percent finished with our build but at least now we can now record with the console!!!
Word on the street is this console belonged to Mark "Flood" Ellis, which is cool. I'm looking forward to recording some great music through it.

As some here would say "Onwards and Upwards" ;)

As someone who also bought a large format analog console through T-rock and built a studio around it, I fully share your pleasure.

Yes, it's a thing of joy. Bought it from Steve Francis (aka particle). Have had Col Abrahams over to give her some love from time to time, so she sounds amazing and works like a dream.

Very pleased to hear the TAC Matchless is working out, I remember when you were scouting around for it back in 2012 or 2013 (whenever it was).

Yeah well it keeps us out of trouble. Its a crazy feeling working on something for such a long time and then recording on it for the first time not knowing whether it's going to sound good or not. We got lucky as it sounds great to me.
