This is a stretch, but does anyone know anyone who can create this sort of animatronic puppet?

I can order it from the States, but I always prefer dealing with locals. Budget is $15K.

Re: Puppets
Yes, my incredible success in the recording industry means I can spend 15 grand on a puppet
Actually it's for a kid's TV show. Being able to work without a puppeteer means we would break even on the cost in less than 4 weeks.

Re: Puppets
I've met some puppeteers (husband and wife team) who live locally who do Olympic games and other stuff, haven't seen them for a while but i'll see if I can get a contact.

Re: Puppets
Terry Henessey here in Kangaroo Valley made the original Thunderbird puppets and continues to make puppets..but I've never heard him talk about animatronics. He's a hands on puppeteer. Therefore may be a little old school for what you're after.

Re: Puppets
you could get in touch with these guys:
http://sydneyrobotworkshop.com/wp/
combine them with someone who could make the artistic/design side of the puppet and work with these guys...
sounds like a long shot though, and u'd probably want someone who does the whole kit and kaboodle.....

Re: Puppets
Well I've been talking with the American company since I first posted, and I've decided to go with them. Cost is US$18K per puppet, and we are ordering three of them. But they are a proven outfit, so while I could possibly save some dollars by dealing with someone local, this way I get certainty.
How a rock-and-roll wanna-be like myself becomes a children's television producer is something I can't easily explain. But it is exciting times. Our characters are being designed by the guy who designed Poomba for the Lion King.

Last week I was working on some acoustic demos. This week I installed a conference recording system. Today I'm writing music for a TV ad.
Sometimes I think that things didn't work out like I planned. But then I remember that the only 'plan' I ever had was that I didn't want to do the same thing every day.
The puppet gig sounds awesome. And the Lion King gets me right in the feels every time.
