Elk and Microtone guitar amps?

Hi,

was scouring through an out of the way music repair shop last week and came across some various bits and pieces of esoteric gear.

1 x Elk Viking 80 Bass Amp (tube head)
4 x Microtone Guitar Amps

(also a bunch of 'vintage' jap electric guitars)

Amps sounded really nice and were going for about $150 a piece.

Anyone have any background info on the amps (where / why they were made)?

Google "Elk"amplifier" and have a look, there is a site that has a copy of an original Japanese Elk brochure.

thanks for that - did try google first and the Elk I saw isn't listed in the brocher (plus my japanese isn't so hot).
