WTB - Alesis Ion

G'Day everyone, sorry this is my first post on the forum which is kinda rude... But I'm hoping I might find someone who has a cupboard of un-wanted or un-used synths. In particular, I'm hoping to find an Alesis Ion. I can't quite explain the why I want one, all I know is I almost grabbed one a couple of years back but changed my mind at the last moment. That decision haunts me! Now, I've been on the lookout for one for the last year and they are like hen's teeth. I really don't like the idea of importing an overseas one.

What about an Alesis QS6 or I think mine might be the QS6.1?
Are you interested in any expansion Q series Cards as I have a few floating arund in the shed somewhere?

Thanks for the offer on the QS6, but I can't explain the need for an Ion.... I just wish I'd grabbed it when I had a chance... I think a QS6 would be too similar to my Yamaha SY85 which I've had for a good twenty years. What I'm after needs to be knobby, I'm certain of that! So yeah, I really have a desire to track one down.

Obviously I also run the base of operations for the Andromeda Appreciation Society of Australia, I offer a special one time deal where I will watch and mind anybodies Andromeda for them free of charge, and I'll read it stories at night before tucking it in... Next to me... In my bed...

Sadly, my available funds are much more at the Ion end than the Andromeda 'winning the lotto' end.

I too had a fond love affair with Alesis series keyboards and modules.
I still have my S4+ module tucked away in its box and wrapping. I am scared to pull it out hoping the internal battery has not leaked over the computer board, I should check into that .
I also loved the QS8 mother keyboard, it was early heavy but it had an awesome aray of sounds and lasted a long time. I bought a qs6 and also a qs6.1 and most of the expansion cards, which I never used.
I was thinking of getting the ion and andromeda when they came out but by then the Korg .Triton was the king of the pack then. Somehow I think the yamaha motif seems to be on top at the moment. I tried to love the Roland keys but they just did not do it for me.

Yeah, I think Alesis is quite unfairly often over looked over the likes of Yamaha, Korg, Roland etc. I know I was probably guilty of that as well. The Andromeda I think got them a heap of respect as a synth building company, and well deserved I'd say as well. Very little matches up to an Andromeda. I know the Ion isn't the bee's knee's in any way in comparison, but I'm really after a more hands on way to shape sound.
I realised this once I had a Juno 106 come into my possession. Sadly, it was a busted one, but my god if you could ignore every 6th key not working it was a beast! And the hands on control made such a difference. So, I sold the Juno a while back before I found out about that Midi - extension kit from this website! Man, I'f I'd known about it I'd have hung onto it and spent the money getting it fixed up and that kit installed.
I'm just hoping the Ion, albeit digital, will live up to the epicness of the Juno. But they just seem so unpopular that there's barely any out there it seems.

But I'll hold out hope!
