International freight companies

Postby dave01.cooper » Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:37 am

Hey all

have 1 large heavy package & 1 smaller lighter parcel that needs to come from Los Angeles, CA to Melbourne, overall weight around 35kg and largest box is around 70x50x50 cm.
Have gotten a quote from TNT & USPS and it was upwards of $600 AUS for TNT and around $580 AUS for USPS which seems ludicrous to me so question is, who have you used in the past for items this large?

It's total value is over $2.5k AUS so that will up the cost of shipping but surely should be able to get some sort of slow freight for under $300 aus? Or am I completely mad?

Thanks

Dave

the trouble (cost) is the paperwork
if they are "personal effects" its a nightmare
if they are commercial then you have to pay duty

drop me a line gareth at gigpiglet.com.au and ill hook you up with the right people (moving stuff between countries is a daily occurrence for me)
