Macbook Pro - Split Battery

Postby Kris » Sun Jun 24, 2007 7:53 pm

Just a warning to any macbook pro users out there. My macbook had been mysteriously shutting itself off without warning, even when the battery was still 40-50% full. I just happened to turn it upside down yesterday and discovered the battery was actually physically split and bulging at the sides much like this photo here, only worse....

If you have a mcabook keep an eye out. This particular problem could be a serious fire hazard if it goes un-noticed. Thankfully Apple are aware and are replacing it at no cost.

Hey Kiddies,

If anyone has any questions apple has a web page detailing the issue here:

http://www.apple.com/au/support/macbook ... eryupdate/

There is a Battery Firmware update that can be of some use also. If you have not run it, it is strongly advised that you do so. This can be located here:
