What about those shure inline pad attenuators? I think you can get them a set at different db amounts actually I think I bought some ebay which had 3 x different settings on an xlr canon jack thingy quite some years ago.

They are ok. I am really chasing the ATTY though, its continuously variable.

Just was hoping someone had one they weren't using and wanted to get rid of it.

You can probably build one pretty easily, put it in a metal jiffy box and kick it around… something like this.

Line level pad? probably but this would be better.

stick two in a box and it'll be useful tool you never get rid of.

Why not build Rob Squire's monitor controller? It is a passive balanced line level attenuator. All you need is a couple of resistors and a potentiometer. It ain't get much cheaper than that!

or the SM pro mini, or nano or whatever its called (the smallest one in the range)
its cheap
totally passive
doesnt seem to sound bad in any way at all
just a simple stereo attenuator.

im sure robs is better.
but for quick fix, the SM should solve your problem.

You only need to use the level control aspect of it.
