Canare cable (GS-6)

Postby wez » Sun Sep 28, 2014 9:27 pm

Is it just me or has Canare GS-6 more or less doubled in price in the last couple of years?

I'm just putting together a new guitar rig/pedal board and I am certain that the last time I bought GS-6 it was less than $3 per metre - it now seems to be closer to $6.

Anyone have a lead on a good deal, or maybe an alternative? Sure I only need 20 metres or so but it all adds up.

Last time i bought it from Factory Sound was a while ago but can dig out invoice if you need. I also have some mogami ones too.

Word on the street is Mogami is more comparable in price now due to new importer bringing in larger quantities.

If you are so inclined come and see if you can hear the difference....

Ha I'm a bit over listening to the differences in guitar cable! But we're overdue for a catch up, so I'll drop in some time for sure.

I've used Mogami exclusively through the studio and at times used leftover stuff for the guitar/keyboard rig... sounds fine, but tends to be microphonic/crackly. I've got Canare GS-6 cables in my live kit that are older than many of the people on this board, I like it's robustness and longevity for live stuff.

Yes i've noticed Mogami mic cable to microphonic, can't remember model number but I recently used a new low noise one and was much better. I have 20yr GS-6 cables still going strong, swithcraft jacks are looking a little worse for wear.

I'm not sure, it was mentioned in passing to me. Will enquire.
