Hey Al

cheers

EDIT - don't mind me, was just my firewall settings :)

These auctions are so frustrating because of the shipping… How does anybody get around that?

Get Gareth in to the fold, he's got some very good shipping contacts overseas.

He certainly sorted out a pickle I was in a few months back

They used to be the biggest post house in Hollywood so I found in interesting how few HDX systems they had (And possibly none - there are three systems written as "hdx2" but that could just be two regular HD cards and not HDX).

Pointless trivia - Kevin O'Connell was a mix engineer at Todd-Soundelux. He holds the all-time record for the most Oscar nominations without a win (20).

Also, here is a Gearslutz discussion about the auction, several LA guys have been to the site and had a look around. Makes for interesting reading.

i have good friends in DTLA
but... are you really going to get any crazy bargains here?

if anyone gets a good enough deal to warrant paying someone a (fair) hourly rate to go an pickup/ pack/ drop off, then i can sort the person, and sort the freight home via my usual guys (again, at fair rates, but likely a lot less than you will get if you just col call someone)

shout out if you need anything
but just being clear that if you buy "cheap" stuff from somewhere else - there are costs involved in getting it home!

Howdy Sam - what's news? If you're looking at bidding on some items we could consolidate a shipment to melbourne together & with others if need be.

That's an interesting read Manning (in amongst the usual gearslutz diatribe...). Hopefully there will be some bargains but from what people are saying about the condition of some of the items, seems hardly worth it especially if you're paying top dollar.

I've registered but if the prices start to get ridiculous then not worth it.

Auctions started - some bargains but nothing practical really if you're overseas + shipping. Some bryston 4b & 2b's went at some good prices

The initial few Lexicon 480Ls went for close to $4K.

Interesting to see if they stay at those kinds of prices.

Nothing went cheap, then you have to add the 18% buyers commission and state tax if you didn't send them the Californian Resale Certificate form
