Metal or cloth for wind/pop filters - which one is better?

Any +ve's or -ve's for either..
I'm looking at Ebay at the moment and they range from $18 to $60

I'd say with a metal one your likely to reduce any low freq booms a lot better as the mesh probably won't bend. I dunno I was pondering this the other day also, I just got a Blue Kiwi mic, and they sell thier own metal mesh pop filters and was thinking of buying one.

I guess for softer vox it would'nt matter but for very close vox with a lot of P's and B's a mesh one would be the go I guess.

I have a couple of fabric mesh filters and a Studio Projects metal filter which since acquiring it, had become my preference. A few of months ago I lent a friend a couple of things to try out while he was working on a project at a local studio......the SP metal filter apparently worked far better than the fabric filters in the studio, additionally, the vocal tracks where my T3 was used required no EQing compared to the tracks done with the studios NTK.

we have both in our studio - mainly because we owned the stocking type one before we tried one of the metal ones.. if you blow through both types with your hand behind you can really tell the difference. the metal louvered design deflects the wind downwards and away from the mic whilst the stocking type slows the air slightly going through. We've been using the metal louvered one ever since..

out of everyone who has tried both
they all say the metal ones are the best
