Re: WTB: SM7 and Coles 4038 x2
So has ANYONE ever picked up a couple of 4038's from a WTB request? Seems they are the most tightly held mics around and buying new is the only way to pick a pair up.

Re: WTB: SM7 and Coles 4038 x2
its all about timing..
there where three or four sold in quick succession a year or so ago
but before or after that - not that ive noticed.
certainly still worth putting out the "i have money i want to spend" feelers though!

Re: WTB: SM7 and Coles 4038 x2
Definitely... I was just referring to my experience with WTB ads.. Got zilch!
But as with everything else, right place right time is the key. That's how I picked up one pair 5 minutes after it was advertised.
I'm sure myles will find a pair soon. Price difference between new and used pair probably wouldn't be more than 400-500.

It's always better to buy ribbons new, in my opinion. Especially sought-after ones. You have no idea if or how much (or how little) 2nd hand ones have been abused, and the price differential is very rarely large.
Umm... free bump I guess? heh

+GST on the above purchase out of the UK. For virtually the same price you can grab a new pair locally (i.e. Turra music) and not have warranty issues, nor have had your expensive ribbon mics thrown around freight depot to freight depot during a journey from the other side of the world!

Since the Coles mics are made in UK, they have to be freighted here anyway and could suffer the same abuse.
