Lawson L47MP ?

Postby reddirt » Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:22 pm

Am on the search for that elusive quality mic to do vox without edgy upper mids - am not able to look at Wunder/wagner prices but am interested if anyone has experience with the Lawson L47MP (US made) as price -wise (USD$2.000) it is achievable but I'd have to import on the basis of others opinions and I'm tempted to take that gamble should there be enough positive feedback.
The other options could include Peluso/AK47/Red/Blue et al.
Cheers, Ross

We have a Lawson L47MP....I've used it mostly on vocals, occasionally on sax..

It has a definite character..maybe not quite as thick as a 47 but overall tone I reckon
is closeish....If you have a sound source or singer that needs a subtle brightening up then
the mic can work well..not so good if you have a sibilant or thin sound to start with...
it worked well on a dark tenor saxophone..not so good on a bright alto...
It's not the most distortion free mic ever built but that's part of its sound....
