WTB: 8 Channel Pre with A/D conversion

Postby bhoath » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:59 pm

Hi Turtlerockers,

I am on the look out for 8 channel Pre with A to D conversion. I am looking to get an additional 8 in's [digital] to my Lynx Aurora 8 via AES I/O DB25 connection.

I am thinking something like:

Midas XL48
Audient ASP800

Let me know if you have anything available.

Also, I would be interested in hearing from any Aurora users out there are using AES I/O for addition in's and there experience configuring the routing etc.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben, I use an Aurora 16 with an AES16e PCIe card. I have an LS-ADAT card attached to the AES card and that provides for a further 16 i/o via ADAT. It is configured in the Lynx Mixer under advanced settings (I think!) where you can set the AES card for 16/24/32 i/o. The computer needs to be re-started for the settings to take effect. It's pretty straight forward routing. I have an Apogee Ensemble going into the LS-ADAT>Aurora for an extra 8 channels. I mainly am just using that to take the feed from the 8 group outputs on an Audient 4816 console (16 channels plus 8 groups = 24 inputs to DAW).

hi ben
yes absolutely works like it should
i use one lynx in 32ch mode with HD card in it
second one as a 16ch analogue to AES converter (basically) with DSUBS to the first one
so 32ch i/o with two lynxs/ one HD card.

also - cant recommend the XL48 highly enough
have done hundreds of live recordings with them
sound way more than the cost (and way better than most/ any live consoles out there)

Do you absolutely need pres? If you need AES expansion, I have 8 channels of AES/ADAT I/O converters in my Lucid 88192 I'm selling. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
