....the tone I have always wanted. I am playing a Brian Setzer Gretsch into an Orange AD30 head into a 25 watt Greenback. Mic'd with an SM57 into a Chandler LTD-1 and I am absolutely in hog heaven.

You can if you have your own webspace storage (which is usually a small amount included with your internet account (but this is variable).
However, there are plenty of places where you can store files online that folks can link too..

that setup sounds quite humbling,

have you tried a ribbon mic, lik the aea R 84? that through the LTD-1 is just guitar bliss for me...

I'll see if I can post some audio when it's done. It's all pretty fun. With the wife and child away o/s there are guitars and amps everywhere at the moment.

The LTD-1 is courtesy of Nick (Aearth). The Gretsch is courtesy of Randall Waller (www.randallwaller.com)

I'd love to try a ribbon some time but their fragility makes me reluctant to hire someone else's. Hopefully I'll be able to buy my own some day. I just need to find myself a good pre. Still really keen on the Germanium.

i dunno if they're still on the market, but the ShinyBox ribbon mics are great value (especially the cinemag option, with a higher output than an md421) - you'll never have to fear using one on a guitar cab again!

and yeah - i'm planning on uploading audio to myspace - that sidesteps the data limit imposed by my web hoster.

my guitar setup...

Gretchesque guitar or Casino
into Orange Tiny Terror (15W)
into Labsystems 2 x 25w celestion greenback open back Cab
with a Apex Ribbon (cheap chinese), centre cone going into
a EMI OB-1 Pre modded by pro harmonic

as mfdu suggested try a chinese ribbon centre cone
they've usually got a pretty high SPL and there cheap
so if you destroy it you haven't wasted a huge amount of money

I noticed today Musicains Freind have Nadys for $99

yeah thats the one Apex 210
jesus thats cheaper than I paid and I thought I got a good deal
they sound wonderful guitar cabs & organs OK for some drum applications
and average on vocals
they have a very apparent proximity effect and a rolled off top end around 15K
which with the right pre amp works wonderfully for classic guitar sounds
anything from sparkling clean to all out fuzz don't know about metal
think 60s psych, stooges first album, costello, that kinda "warm" clarity

In response to TimS
I'm pretty sure that most of the Chinese Ribbon Mics are practically the same
just different bodys and probably different amounts foam inside

If I had the budget I'd go to AEA or Royer
but compared to an sm57 the cheap ribbons kick arse
I own a beautiful Reslo but I don't want to risk it infront of a loud cab

I've never needed to before but if I wanted something more razor sharp I'd put a condenser
in the the room as well and use its tops

this afternoon I decided I am doing way too much and really stressed and everything got a little too much and I got a little irrational, i decided it was time to just chill and relax and I put a few things on hold that I couldn't afford to put hold and just play guitar, have a couple drinks and shut the rest of the world out and wind down a bit.

Everything is going to plan and then curiosity got the better of me and decided it was time to test a few things and just experiment guitar wise.....

I found it.....

I found the sound that just gives pure raw aggression, which just gave me a release.

I have a quad of celestion g12 50's that I put into a corner and forgot about, tonight I thought i would get it and see if I can remember why I left it in the corner and plugged my 1970 hiwatt into it, then plugged my guitar in and from that grew some of the biggest hairiest balls I had heard from a guitar amp.

I guess the moral of the story is and hopefully some people can relate.

but lately music hasn't been a release for me like it was, it has been a stress and this time of the year I am just doing way too much and I have a lot of work on

like Rick wrote in an AT article some time ago, sometimes we need just to take a step back and find a stress release and go fishing or do something different, and tonight just playing guitar I found it again, music, just making time to play guitar, and not think, not over analyze everything going on, not play anything in particular just break the cycle and do something different,

and I found it... Just thought I would share

and listening to the Hiwatt, I know why Townsend went deaf

I don't have a day (or a night) off until November 30. I totally know what you mean.
