pitch to midi convertors?

anyone know of any good quality hardware or software that performs this task well? and in real time??

there was a very old Roland unit that did this, but i misssed out on ebay. :(

looking to plug in a mic, and use my voice as a pitch controller....

Haven't tried it as it is PC only, so I have no idea if it is any good, but you could look at:

yeah, i saw that whilst googlin, will try when i get back from holidays...

freeware...get a bit sceptical about its tracking, but wil definately try that baby out!

There are plenty of MIDI to voltage converters out there, but not much the other way. I don't remember if Melodyne has that functionality, I will run it up tomorrow and see, if it can it would do a good job, but not free though.

thats cool, im expecting to pay :P

i want this thing to use instead of a keyboard....that plug in you linked me to said "has trouble recognising legato lines", which would basically rule out the main attraction of this thing for me

i wanna use my voice to get the same level of freedom as a theramin player has, but with my voice.

thats the goal anyway, hehe

years ago I did some shows with a Queen tribute band. "Freddy" used to sing into some voice processor (TC electronic I think) and at the same time play keys. The midi out from the keyboard would send pitch info to the box and add harmonies to his vocal. Sounded so cool. Not sure if that's what you're looking for though.

i think im just looking for something which takes a monophonic source (my voice)... and accurately tracks seperate notes, pitch pending, vibrato...and anything else...and maps those things to their appropriate midi information channels.

after some further reading tonight, it seems the very physics of the idea is difficult...and nothing has been developed that tracks accurately...

i'd like to ideally hook this thing up to an analog synth ...or VST, and play electronic leads...hoping that controlling with my voice will give the sounds a much more organic sound.

i think im dreaming, hopefully someone out there can prove me wrong.

the next best thing i've seen is the "continuum fingerboard"...not really related, but offers astounding freedom of expression. It comes with a price though, hehehe

I think Auto tune will export the pitch data as midi.

re the fairlight and roland...

i was tryin to do some reading on both, the roland had pretty mixed, mostly un impressed reviews with the trackin....
the fairlight, i couldnt find jack all about, not even a picture...

you know much about these two Nymo?

Have used both at one time or another....but pitch to midi has never really been succesful ;-)
