Drum Mic Packs

Hello. Can anyone reccomend a good place to buy a drum mic pack, shure, cad, akg?

You r in Melb now? So Factory sound is always good to me and Serge at Audio Oz in St Kilda Rd is always worth a visit. Happy Hunting. As a side i have been trying out the Sampson drum pack from electric factory (Preston) for an el cheapo alternative and have been getting consistently good results...( when used with nicer overheads)

I'd agree with Chris H - I've been on Sound Factory's mailing list for yrs and they always have good deals for drum mics and packs.
Well worth checking them out.
I've bought many SM58's from them over the years (always good when they do their big mic sale specials - save a bucketload!!)

I bought my whole drum "kit" from Alan Chan via ebay (alanchan1024) - beta52, beta57(x2), e604(x4).

I've always thought the pre-packaged kits weren't that much chop... but to be honest, I've never played with one, and those Shure PG drum-mic kits look like unreal value.

Those Shure PG series drum mic packs are usable at most. You have to work very hard to get anything good out the other end. I have used them a few times and just don't like them but hey thats just me. I can pull better sounds with just 57's on everything except the kick.

You should try and find an Audix DP-5 kit, it's the balls. 1 x D6, 1 x i5, 2 x D2, 1 x D4. Great mics for live and studio use. Not cheap but well worth it IMO.
