Where to send Sennheiser MD421 for repairs?

Postby Gian » Wed Jan 28, 2009 11:03 am

Hi all, I recently acquired a Sennheiser MD421 off letter after d-bay. It needs fixing.

thanks

ben you keen to help him out ...?

421 are either really easy to fix or they are basket cases
so most techs dont come running to fix them

Sennheiser and Neumann service , send it or take it to Syntec International, They're the importer and can service all mics in-house and have all parts on hand. Sydney number 02-9910-6700. www.syntec.com.au
Be aware though, if it's been dropped and the capsule is damaged it can be expensive.

They booked it in on the 10th Feb, spoke to them this morning and they were just looking at it now (that's what they said, anyway) and they were going to give me a call back "soon". So, they have had it for 14 working days. When I rang them early last week, they said it normally takes 10 working days till they can look at it. Hopefully I will get a call either later today, or early next week.

Hi Jeep, I have not had much success with Syntec, I am sending mine to Ben at Bees Neez Microphones: www.beesneezmicrophones.com.au

I spoke to him on the phone and he seemed much nicer than syntec.

Syntec are a bunch of c**nts...

I bought a brand new Sennheiser MKH416, within 3 months the capsule blew out. I expected a brand new replacement, but they decided to send me an old mic body with new innards. The shell had cosmetic damage too...

As far as I'm concerned, if a product fails within the warranty period, I expect a brand new replacement and nothing less.

They told me they didnt have the pad/filter switch in production any more, I told them to bypass it, they said they werent allowed to. Then they proceeded to tell me how much it cost them to look at it, how much postage back to me would be and added GST. It was a very expensive exercise to have my mic returned (hopefully this week) and having been away for about a month. I just hope it had a nice holiday.
