I recon. It's from an old Broken Hill storm a few years back. Much the same as happened the other day.

Yep, while the radio and BOM said it isnt as bad, it looks and tastes just as bad here in Tamworth.

We had a little dust this mornign but nothing like the other day.
Like ChrisW, I'm over this damn wind - its quite annoying actually..

If its blowing out of SA then it might have come across from the old Maralinga atomic test site.. who knows..

if you leave a standard red house brick in the sun all day the radioactive isotope level goes up enough to measure
errr not that i have a nos war war 2 tube giga counter or anything....

actually i must fess up that i have two , never know when your going to need one right ...?

dust storms , nuclear bomb blasts
hot red house bricks sitting in the sun ..

i think we will be ok

The storm is believed to have originated around Woomera and near the Olympic Dam uranium mine.
Scientists are apparently analyzing the dust:

I've been to this mine and been taken around the huge tailings dam. Of course, unfortunately this alpha radiation is dangerous only if inhaled or ingested...
