Does this mean no more BJB?
I had it down for my next big drum session.

Hope all turns out well Chris.
I agree some of those prices are very, very reasonable.

Sorry to hear that.
It came highly recommended.
I understand the bad situation facing large studios however.
Good luck!

No problem with BJB situation - plenty of work year in year out - its been 80% full for nearly a decade in both studios.
I will be throwing shitloads of constant work away.
All I can advise anyone with a studio - NEVER go into partnerships.

Well at least I have my cute Tassie studio - creative home to Daniel Johns and many other fine creatives.
I'm also looking forward to working in all these other great Aussie studios in Sydney and Melbourne.

Just spent 2 weeks recording in the south of France:

Flickinger console - Steve Albini's fave studio - what a great studio!

Things can only get better from now on!

see you flipped from grumpy to positive in three hours :)

stick with the positive ... nobody needs a big studio
you have got to lie awake dreaming about it to make it worthwhile i reckon -
when the nightmares start and become reoccurring
its better to knock it down clean up pack up and move on

this is something i know a lot about

I've never worked at BJB but my friend & colleague Tobias Cummings has always spoken very highly of the place and I'm sure passes on his best wishes. I have been following BJB's progress with interest ever since the big AT article covering the original fit out. I am very sad to see such a highly respected studio go, but ultimately it's a people business and I have no doubt that the right people will follow you wherever you go Chris. Good luck!

"The darkest hour is just before the dawn ", Chris - sorry to sound trite but it will come good for you . To get you in a good frame, take a listen to Emmy Lou sing it with Ricky Skaggs on harmony - magic.
I too remember the AT story.
Best wishes , Ross

I've never been there, but know a few people who have recorded there and they all loved your studio Chris. It is sad to see it go.

Hope you have better adventures in more studios to come!

Well - there will be a lot more work out there for you guys now we are not steeling so much of it!

Again thanks for all your kind words.

And also I would like to acknowledge 20 years worth of incredible clients, producers and engineers from all over the world who have loved the place, the quality of the recordings, the killer vibe - and have given so much joy and appreciation back to me. (some who are also on this great forum)

For some reason - selling a lot of this stuff to you guys gives me pleasure - rather than a shallow ebay experience.

Good times to all!

I haven't used BJB but I know a number of people who have. It seems to me that BJB is the BHP of Australian studios.... the quiet achiever.

I'm sure whatever you do next will be successful, if for no other reason than it will be your name on the door and people will remember the BJB experience positively. That kind of goodwill is priceless.

Best of luck for the future.

Hi Chris, recorded with you many years back, (with Stephen Taberner, his CD and another time doing the soundtrack to a doco)
Working with you was an education and a pleasure. Also got to play with a Reynolds amp :D
Thankyou Chris, I wonder if you realise what a stellar reputation you have out there!
Say g'day to Bear if he is still around, good ol' tuffnuts.
All the best,

Hey Lenny - how are you? Long time.
Bear passed away only 8 weeks ago - he was my greatest friend in the world.
He is credited on so many albums its outrageous.
He spent every day of his life with me.
If any studio would not let me bring him then I would not work there.
He was 13 years old - I spent the majority of the last 12 months caring for him in Tassie, had to lift him up each morning to get him going -his body was packing in. Weighing 40 kilos, I had to carry him up and down 3 flights of stairs at BJB a few times per day for his walks. This was for the last 2 years.
Not so easy after a 14hr session at 2am - with a few glasses of red under my belt!

I passed on so much amazing work to care for him over the last year.
Hence a lot more time spent on TRock as I kept him warm by the fire while on the net.
MAN - i miss him bigtime!
He's buried on the property - with a tree to be planted in his honor.
Here he is a few years ago at BJB - and a few weeks before his passing.
WORD!

BJB will be sorely missed, I have a couple of mates who've tracked there with nothing but praise to say about the whole place & staff involved. Hope all goes well for a fellow Tasmanian in your future endeavors!

Have emailed you about a couple of items.

Cheers

Hi Chris.
So sorry to hear about Bear, he was a great dog and pal.
With the studio and all the gear gone, you've still the owner of what made BJB special.
All the best.

ps you should keep that spring reverb though :)
