my strong advice is to stop ...
and have a think about the metalwork/ size ergonomic format of this thing , long before you worry about the caps and resistors. when you find out that getting the metal work made to order is going to cost you at least $5k , you will soon decide a better way to go is ...

Aww - and there I was thinkin' that I knew this bloke who was really good at woodwork who might make me up a case for nuthin', seeing as how he's into music and all that.

Actually, my questions remain theoretical - its more understanding the nature and soul of consoles than a desire to build. Knowing how they do what they do to help me choose, maintain and functionally use the beasts. What's good and what's not. Why not to buy a Deadringer even when the local store is offering them at 40% off RRP.

but it'd less of a fire-hazard than one made of cardboard, at least.

you may have problems with grounding. and i wonder if frequency response would be affected by the type of varnish you use?

would you need to stick to known tone-woods, like a luthier? hmmm. so many questions . . .

and you aren't using LED's as indicator lamps - switching phantom power on launches a boat flare out the back of the console.
